Nueva red social: Foodinterest

Buenos y soleados días!!!

Qué tal va la semana? Ya estamos a VIERNES!!! Y aquí estoy preparándome para los exámenes...uffff

Hoy quería compartir con vosotros una iniciativa que nos ha parecido super interesante, y de la que pronto seremos asiduas usuarias! 

Se trata de Foodinterest, una red social en la que puedes buscar restaurantes y compartir  reseñas de con los demás usuarios, fotos y videos de vuestas mejores recetas o trucos de cocina. 

Esta red nace en 2012 cuando estos dos jóvenes emprendedores (Jaime Beltrán y José Antonio Salvador) decidieron crear una red social gastronómica, para los aficionados a la comida y la cocina. Como casi cualquier emprendedor, comenzaron su andadura de una forma un poco precaria en un pequeño despacho madrileño, pero hoy el equipo ya cuenta con 14 empleados y cerca de 3.000 usuarios!!!! Y  nosotras sin enterarnos!!

Ofrece un gran abanico de posibilidades, todo con una apariencia y una estética muy cuidada y de fácil uso, es decir, vale hasta para dummies de la tecnología. En tu muro puedes ver las novedades de amigos o personas a las que sigas, y también sugerencias de dónde comer, fotos, opiniones... Una de las cosas que más nos ha gustado es la posibilidad que ofrece de grabar tus videos, las Videorecetas, porque siempre es más fácil ver cómo se hace, que leerlo. Y eso de "es que cocinar para 14 es muy difícil"? Pues se acabó porque también te permite calcular cantidades para un mayor o menor número de comensales.

Otra de las ventajas es su buscador de restaurantes, que con sus filtros permite la selección por gustos, tipos de comida, cercanía, geografía, intimidad o por parámetros de salud. Además, las valoraciones son bastante fiables, pues los restaurantes que aparecen en la guía lo hacen de forma gratuita y solamente, si un restaurante quiere publicitar ofertas pagará una cantidad fija por ello al margen del número de reservas.

Aztec Nails

Hola!!

El asunto de las uñas postizas siempre me había parecido muy incómodo y con un toquecillo hortera.

Sin embargo cuando ví que en Etsy había uñas con prints, dibujos y colores impresionantes...no pude resistirme!! Me enamoré de estas tribales o aztecas, que tienen unos colores preciosos. Pero además el print está muy de moda este verano asi que...mejor que mejor, ya tenía la excusa perfecta.

To be honest, I have never been to excited about fake nails...They had always seemed a bit tacky and uncomfortable to me. However, when I first saw the amazing nails with prints, drawings and great colours in Etsy...I couldn't help myself!! I fell inlove with these tribal or aztec nails, which have beautiful colours...and the print is quite on trend this summer so...I had the perfect excuse to get myself a pair!!

Aquí os dejo una foto del resultado, como podréis ver, corté mis uñas postizas para que fueran más cortitas, que es como me gusta a mi llevar las uñas...pero como son largas podéis dejarlas con la longitud que queráis.También os hago una recomendación de reciente usuaria: no ponérselas de fiesta, especialmente si prevees tomarte unas copillas, porque antes o después las perderás, y luego nadie te quita el disgusto.

Here's a picture of the result, as you can see, I cut my custom nails to a shorter size because I like to wear my nails short, they are quite long when you buy them so you can cut them into any size you like. I'd also like to give you a new user's advice: do not wear them out to party! The nails will stay on and be comfortable for almost any occassion, but probably not for late night partying and a couple of drinks...

DIY: neon necklace

Hi girls!
Here's a look I wore to dinner with some friends last week. In this look you can see my last DIY project, a hand painted rhinestone necklace. This is a terribly easy DIY, and it is quite cheap too. Furthermore, I think the results are quite good, my friends for example didn't realise it was a painted necklace.

These necklaces can be easily found on e-bay for really cheap prices. Then you can use your nail polish to paint the tiny rhinestones in the necklace into bright, shiny colours. In my opinion, best results are achieved when you use bright and contrasting colours. Also, if you want to paint some of the bigger stones to look transparent but with colour (like a gem), instead of matt, you can use a permanent marker instead of nail polish. I will post some pics of more necklaces I painted in a couple of days, I love this cheap, easy DIY!

Aquí os dejo un look que usé para ir a cenar con unas amigas la semana pasada. En él podéis ver mi último proyecto de DIY, un collar de cristalitos pintado a mano. Es un DIY realmente fácil y barato. Además creo que los resultados no están nada mal, asi que estoy bastante contenta con el descubrimiento, mis amigas ni siquiera pensaron que lo había hecho yo! (y no soy demasiado habilidosa, la verdad)

Estos collares pueden encontrarse fácilmente en e-bay (los mandan desde china) o en un todo a 100 por precios increíblemente baratos. Son super brilli-brilli hortera si los dejas así, pero una vez pintados con esmalte de uñas...es otro asunto! También os recomiendo como idea, pintar las piedras más grandes con un rotulador permanente en vez de esmalte de uñas, porque así el resultado será más transparente (como una piedra de bisutería) y no tan mate. En unos días os enseñaré más collares que he hecho con este método, una vez empiezas es adictivo de lo fácil y entretenido que es!

DIY: Spike Iphone Case

You need / Necesitas:

1. rubber Iphone case (I chose the blue one, but black, 

wine or some other neon color would do the trick too)

2. a cutter

3. some tree spikes!! I purchased mine on ebay

NOW YOU´RE READY TO START!!

AHORA ESTAS LISTO PARA EMPEZAR!!

First of all you have to measure to calculate how many spikes can you get into the space you have.

With my spikes you are able to put up to 5 spikes in a row!! But I decided to only use four so I leave some space for my finger to slide in when I´m holing the Iphone.

Lo primero es medir para poder calcular cuántos pinchos te caben en la carcasa. Según mi tamaño te caben hasta cinco por fila, pero yo me decidí a poner sólo cuatro ya que así me caben los dedos entre los pinchos cuando sujeto el móvil y es menos molesto.

Second, use the pen or whatever other marker you are using to point out the spots where the spikes are supposed to go!! (Do it from the inside so you won´t be able to tell from the outside part you painted it!!)

Segundo, utiliza el boli o el permanente o lo que sea para marcar los lugares en los que vas a poner los pinchos. (Mejor hazlo por la cara inversa, así no se ve desde fuera que la carcasa está pintada!! Si utilizas el boli en este tipo de superficies de puede borrar fácilmente.)

Use the cutter to make some holes on the spots you previously highlighted!!

Utiliza el cutter para hacer pequeños agujeros en los lugares que marcaste anteriormente con el boli!!

And then go on putting the Spikes!! This is the easies step because you can just use a screwdriver, it come with a screwback!! 

Después manos a la obra con los pinchos! Esta es la parte más fácil ya que viene preparados para que puedas enroscarlos sin problemas!! 

Go on and on!!

To protect the back of the Iphone (just in case) I also cut a piece of cardboard into an Iphone shape to put it between the case and the phone.

Para proteger el móvil (por si las moscas) corté también un trozo de cartulina con forma de Iphone y lo metí dentro, entre la carcasa y el móvil para que no se raye.

Summer-Spring weddings & celebrations

Summer & Spring are quite hectic when it comes to celebrations: weddings, graduations, here we also have 1st communions...and we're all supposed to be fabulous (and dress differently!) for each and one of these occasions. But the economy is nowhere near boyant, so we have tried to summarize some ideas in this post, in order to make it easier (and less expensive!!) to look great for those special celebrations this spring.

Como sabéis, la primavera y el verano están llenos de celebraciones y compromisos: bodas, graduaciones, primeras comuniones...y se espera que estemos fabulosas y perfectas en cada una de ellas. Sin embargo, la economía (especialmente la nuestra) está lejos de estar en auge (no está el horno para bollos), así que hemos decidido intentar recoger algunas ideas en este post para estar tan estupendas como siempre (pero por menos dinero!!) para las ocasiones especiales que tengamos este año.

1. KEEP IT SIMPLE.  

When it comes to the dress keep it simple. If you buy something with lots of detail this is going to bring the prices up. Considder a simpler dress in a nice but cheaper fabric such as chiffon. Love has some great and affordable options with amazing and flattering cuts & colours, for LOVE dresses check here. 

 

 Other great options to shop from, if you want something economic but don't want to appear at the wedding and find your cousin and 3 other guests wearing the same dress as you because you got it from Zara, are online shops such as ASOS or even Topshop for us who don't live in the uk.


2. INVEST IN PIECES YOU CAN USE AGAIN.

If you are going to spend more money, make sure it is on something you will wear again. You will be able to do so by buying a simpler dress like the ones above, that you can complete with great accessories to make it more special. Another option is to buy a more expensive dress that is a staple, a LBD or a LWD could do the trick (not the lWD for a wedding of course!), since you could use them afterwards for work meetings, reunions, or a fancy dinner with friends or your lover.

3. RENT AN OUTFIT.

Even though this is a common practice in many countries, this idea is starting to penetrate in countries like Spain, where it is starting to be more and more popular. In Bilbao, you can find stores such as our friends from Chez Elle, where you will be able to rent out great outfits and accessories for your events.

4. ACCESSORIZE SMARTLY.

Accessories are a great and unexpensive way to make your look special. With a simple dress but statment accessories you can really stand out for your originality and good taste. A very good option for these kinds of events are headpieces, and we personally love floral hair wreaths and hair pins, for their lovely whimsical / spring effect.

Another good option would be COLOUR BLOCKING, using shiny colours to add contrast to your dress/ outfit and give your look a special touch. I (Saturday) personally love how neons such a yellow, turquoise or coral can do this trick for you. Not only are neons huge this season, but they will allways be a useful tool in your wardrobe in order to amp up any look. Be it autumn, winter, summer or spring, a touch of colour can make the difference both for a casual or for a more dressed up look.

A great thing about buying a cheaper dress and statement accessories, is that you can use all of those elements for other occassions, and even combine and mix them to make new looks for summer-spring events. No one will notice you wore the same dress twice, because the accessories are the protagonists in these looks. 

5. DO IT YOURSELF / Wedding DIY.


When it comes to accessories, many can be made by oneself with little effort and a bit of patience. There are tons of blog posts and tutorials on the subject, and in fact we will be posting a very interesting DIY for jewellery in the following weeks. 
Save money on the hairdresser and make up, DIY. There are also tons of youtube tutorials on how to make some great hairdo's that will make your look very very special. You can check our first tutorial we posted some weeks ago here. Practice beforehand and try some of these hairdo's, then you are ready to choose one and wear fabulous hair to your event.
Another idea is to rework some dresses/pieces you wore previously. With a little bit of imagination and patience great things can be done. You can add appliques, beads, lace...change the front, sleeves, cut a long dress into a short one...even dye it if you are careful (depending on fabric!).

Nos gustaría compartir uno de nuestros últimos descubrimientos con vosotras:

Se llama Imogen, es Británica y tiene los mejores tutoriales de peinados en la red.

Tiene un canal de youtube llamado FoxyLocksExtensions (que proabablemente sea también el nombre de la empresa que la patrocina a ella y su canal). Puede que no seais muy aficionadas a eso de las extensiones (lo cierto es que nosotras tampoco lo somos), pero aunque sea así, puede que encontreis ùtil este canal, sobretodo si teneis el pelo largo como nosotras.

Esta chica hace que cada trenza y cada recogido parezca facilísimo, lo cual anima mucho a intentarlo! Asi que empezad a practicar chicas, nosotras os enseñaremos nuestras trenzas muy pronto!!

We wanted to share one of our latest discoveries with you:

Her name is Imogen, she is British, and she has the best hairstyle tutorials out there on the net.

She has a youtube channel called FoxyLocksExtensions which is probably also the company supporting her and her great channel.  Even if you are not very fond of hair extensions you will find her tutorials very useful, especially if you have long hair (and...we all three do). She makes every braid and up-do look terribly easy, and we love that, it's SO encouraging!! So start practicing girls, we will show you our fishtail braids soon!!
